Introduction The CAT Qualification is suitable for anyone who wants a solid foundation of knowledge in finance and accounting. It will provide you with all the technical skills and knowledge you need to perform an accounting-support role and work at a technician level. No previous academic qualifications are required to study for this qualification. The ability level is broadly equivalent to the first year of a degree programme/HND. The qualification is part of the Foundations in Accountancy suite of awards. Content The CAT qualification comprises a combination of exams and practical experience. It is designed to equip you with all the necessary technical skills and knowledge required to fulfill an accounting role to technician level. It also provides a firm foundation of knowledge and the opportunity to fast track towards becoming a professional ACCA accountant. To achieve CAT status you will need to complete a set of exams and one year′s practical experience in the workplace. The CAT Scheme allows you to take control of how and where you study. With a range of internationally relevant syllabus options and the choice of distance learning, face-to-face or self study, the qualification is ideally suited to those who are keen to progress their careers while maintaining a manageable work-life balance. The CAT qualification is internationally recognised and highly regarded. It can lead to a challenging and rewarding career. Entry requirements There are no entry requirements for this course, and you do not need any prior knowledge of accountancy. If you′re aiming to progress to the main ACCA qualification and already have the minimum entry requirements for ACCA already (two ′A′ Levels and three GCSEs) you′re advised to start with ACCA. However, if you haven′t studied for some time you may opt to study for any or all of the CAT awards first. Timetable
